Nexus

I’m not one to play favorites.  Don’t have a favorite song, movie, or television show.  Don’t even have a favorite color.  Ask me for a top-ten list and you’ll come up empty.  There are things I like, things I don’t like, and things that I’m more interested in than others at any given moment.  That’s just how I’m wired.

But I might have a favorite comic book.

It isn’t Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, or X-Men.  If you’re guessing Love & Rockets or some other indie fave, wrong again.  There’s only one book that I’ve followed consistently for the last 25 years: Baron and Rude’s Nexus.  Thing is, until now there hasn’t been a new issue of Nexus since 1997.

Senor Blitz of Happy Harbor, RI, was kind enough to ship me a box of loot from Free Comic Book Day.  Of the 40-odd issues in the shipment, the Nexus’ Greatest Hits sampler was the first one I grabbed.  It isn’t even a comic book per se, just a collection of pages from past issues.  But it heralds the arrival of the first new Nexus story in 10 years.  That, my friends, is the best news I’ve had in a long time.
